Bishoke Sil is born & brought up in a musician family of North Calcutta. All three elder sisters are expert in classical & devotional songs, Sitar etc. Elder brother were collector of classical / Semi Classical Music records, Sister - in - laws was a Kaththak Dancer
Bishoke Started learning Sitar from his elder Sister Mira, at the age of 9 years. After that he was sent to Acharya Birendra KishoreRoy Chowdhury, the great Beenkar maestro. Till the expiry of Birendra Kishore, Bishoke was taught in Rudra veena, Sitar, and under his guidance, Sri Sil completed Six years' course in Badya Pravakar.
his first audio album(by Universal Music,Mumbai) has been published containing rags..deepak,sur-mallar,hemanta and maya-basanta in 4 different tals. Live at dhrupad mela,varanasi, rag kalavati, uploaded in you-tube, under 'rudraveena by bishoke sil part 2' .and at the vivekananda's residence, rag suddha kalyan under 'bishoke rudraveena'.sri sil, a civil engineer,worked in the post of  Executive Engineer,under Govt. of West Bengal, (now retd).
Bishoke Sil also a comic story writer . He has written and published many books.His last publication HASANTI is published on 17th January 2014 at Calcutta Press Club.The cover design and all cartoon sketches in the book,also has done by him.
